Ladies and gentlemen, we are now ready to begin our descent. As we prepare for landing, I would like to review some basic blackjack rules.
Casino blackjack rules allow for the game to be dealt either by hand or from a shoe. The casino edge is usually lower in hand-held games as only one deck is used. The “shoe” dispenser plays between six or eight decks.
Cards two to nine are worth their face value. When learning how to play blackjack, aces can be worth either one or eleven, depending on the player's needs. Face cards and tens are worth ten points. |

In standard blackjack rules, the players and the dealer both get two cards. The player has the choice of hitting, standing, splitting or doubling down. The decision to use any one of them is entirely dependent on your hand's value.
The dealer is bound by strict blackjack rules. If his hand is worth 17 or more, he must stand. If it is worth sixteen or less, he has to hit.
